TALLAHASSEE - Ron Sachs, president and CEO of Ron Sachs Communications, recently earned Leadership Florida's most prestigious accolade - the Distinguished Member Award - at the group's annual conference. The annual award honors a Leadership Florida member whose exceptional examples of character and leadership exemplify the highest standards of our organization and whose activities set an example of statewide influence.
Among the many community and statewide organizations and projects that have benefited from Sachs' innovative and creative leadership are the Leon County Schools' Foundation and Decision 2006 and Decision 2008. Sachs brought a "best practice" from his hometown of Miami, the Best and the Brightest Awards, to provide a way the LCSF could honor dynamic seniors in Leon County high schools whose leadership improved their schools and community. This outstanding program has grown significantly with Sachs' continued support and guidance. Decisions 2006 and 2008 were the result of his forming a coalition among three statewide and one national entity -- Leadership Florida, the Florida Press Association, Florida Public Broadcasting, and NBC/MSNBC. These organizations partnered to produce five debates among Gubernatorial, US Senatorial, and Presidential candidates. Sachs is currently leading the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, and is an active supporter of a number of other organizations.
He also has shown leadership throughout his career, including serving as deputy press secretary for Governor Reubin Askew and communications director for Governor Lawton Chiles. He founded Ron Sachs Communications in 1996 and has since built the company into a top public affairs communication firm in Florida and one of the top 100 independent public relations firms in the nation.
"Leadership Florida is the state's most trusted convener to conduct forums on the issues and elections that affect the state's future," Sachs said. "I'm proud to be a member of this great organization, and I'm honored by this award."
Leadership Florida is a statewide community of leaders actively engaged in understanding and serving Florida. By developing a reputation as a builder of a stronger, diverse statewide sense of community, Leadership Florida has become a respected non-partisan convener, taking the lead in training and developing leaders with a statewide, rather than parochial, view of our state's needs.
